Day One - Den Haag

6 March 2011
So far I have had wonderfull trip and saw things that made me feellike writing this block. My trip started on flight M16 to Amsterdam and this was when all the excitement bagan. Guess what... I was seated besides the Malaysian Badminton Team. They were enroute to England for the All England Tournament. Dang.. I was so startruck I just could not bring myself to speak to anyone of them. They must have thought that I was a snob.. duh.... Dato LCW was standing right besides me... the coach was walking besides me... and I bump into the whole team whilst walking to pick up my bags, all I needed to do was open my mouth and ask for a photo.....
Instead I took photos of myself and my reading companion the ever so funny and real Mr Bourdain...

One thing I saw on the plane though really tug at my heartstrings... I saw one of the stewards actually prayed on the plane. I don't know why but I was surprised, pleasantly surprise. I supposed they are still really good people around, people who still remembers their responsibilities... At the same time I felt embarrassed....

I can never get tired....

Nothing much to say today.
Thought I put in a short entry seeing that it might be a while before I can write again due to my busy travelling schedule for the next 2 weeks and a half.

Just got back from a day full of meetings feeling really glad that all went well so far. One presentation down and 2 more to go no.. make it 3 more as I was told this morning I have to do another one next week. Duh!!! I thought I managed to wiggle myself out of that one already.

I am now back in my hotel enjoying the sea view. Nice, there are a lot of ships coming into the docks.. they are all lined up. Funny how all are orange in colour... couldn't they have a little bit variety duh!!!! Wish I have a proper camera to take some nice pictures tho'. Note to oneself, must get that camera this March.

Anyway, the big bathtub is waiting. Wanna have a long bath and then off to dinner. I deserve some rest and relaxation tonight to make up for the one hour sleep I got last night trying to finish some work. And it was no fun either the fact that your flight this morning was at 7am flight...

All in all though, I can never get tired doing all this, well not yet anyway. I now can see my next steps, where I am going.....

Perks of the new job??? Maybe

I do travel a lot in my new job. So it means hotels, taxis, airports and more hotels, taxis and airports. So far I still enjoy it… thank god since in the next few years I foresee that I will need to do more traveling in particular with the new position I am about to take up. In order to break the monotony and make the travel more interesting I would take some photos, if I remember or not too lazy anyway, and in particular if I get a room with a nice view or an upgrade to a nicer room, it happens more often than not.

Here are some of the views I manage to capture with my mobile phone. Not bad eh???
On the left, view from my room at the Dorsett Labuan. I could also see the Labuan Supply Base from my room

I was also in Kota Kinabalu for another business trip the other day and part of what I need to do is a walkabout at Jesselton Point. Wow it felt as if I was in a small quaint old seaport in Europe.

Wish I could stayed longer sipping some nice cool drinks with some people watching

See what I mean, don't you think this looks and feels like one of those european small seaport village?

Remember the upgrades I do get sometimes, well I got one during the same trip. I got upgraded to a suite, I think the name of the suite was something like Padas or something like that. View from my bedroom to the living area....

The gigantic bathtub....... complete with bath salts...

It was a cool room, felt more like a studio apartment and I love the fact that they actually have a walk-in wardrobe. Ahhhh walk in, always a girl’s dream ain’t it?

Getting the upgrade also meant that I got to entertain myself at the executive lounge on the 13th floor of the hotel. Again the view was nice. Enjoyed my breakfast there!!!

And oh!!! I nearly forgot…new job means new toys

Amongst others, the new spectacles I got made. I had been eyeing the Roberto Cavalli frame collection for almost a year (how sad) and always feel that it was too pricey for what I was making at that time.

And…my beloved new toy, my pride my joy

Hey…. a girl deserves to splurge sometimes!!!!!

First Visitor – My BFF Muzi….

On my 3rd week in Miri (hope I got the timeline correct….har har its been a while) my friend Muzi visited me. She was the first visitor to visit me here and we had a wonderful time doing the usual stuffs… eating and eating and eating

Oppss I forgot, we managed to do some jungle trekking as well… don’t believe me? Here’s the photo proof. Note the brown polka dot shirt making its appearance again????
Muzi catching her breath... it was a long walk, almost 1 hour... we were surprised to find a nice picnic area up here. The wooden benches were really a welcome relief.....

Amongst the funny trees we found during our walk. Check out the name of the tree.. on the left.
On the right.. the tree trunk is really yellow in colour. Never seen anything like this before......

We found a nice waterfall as well. Seems that this is one of the many that we can find here. (You would have noticed that I did not mentioned the name of this place.. to be honest I actually forgot but I still know how to get there though... duh!!!!)
To Anne and Jill, its your turn now..........

A fresh new start - A new Job at a New State..

It’s really funny how sometimes when you have a lot to say or in my case write you just don’t have the time to do so. We are now into the 3rd week of February 2010 already…and this is my first entry since the promise I made way back in May last year to continue writing and updating. I supposed it is true what they say, time flies when you are having fun…

As mentioned before, I started a new job in a new state last quarter of 2009. To say that the pace has been fast and furious would be an understatement. Not complaining though as I am happy here and the work does come with many perks… and that would in itself warrant a separate blog entry.

Picture of me at the airport.. har har this brown polka dot shirt is my lucky shirt.. as you would see, it will make many appearances in my blog as I would be wearing it almost all the time… duh note to self please allocate sometime to do some shopping my dear…

When I first arrived in Miri, stayed for a month at Marriott Miri and they gave me a room that overlooks a small garden. Here are some pictures. On hindsight I should have taken the picture of the company pool car or rather van as well coz it was really a funny sight me driving that giant alone...

The chairs and table on the patio… which I only used like once or twice as it is rather hot here in which drives my sweat glands into overdrive….

Life has been so far....... so good…
